Zero Energy Mass Custom Home Network
Zero Energy Mass Custom Home (ZEMCH) aims to tackle issues arising in the delivery of socially, economically and environmentally sustainable built environments in developed and developing countries, which accommodate people with different socio-economic backgrounds that relate to ages and abilities. ZEMCH Network was established in 2010 after a number of international industry-academia collaborative study tours were organised in order to observe the state-of-the-art production and sales facilities of leading low to zero energy or carbon dioxide emission sustainable housing manufacturers in Japan, which also practise inclusive design.
ZEMCH Network consists of 667 global partners from academia, industry and government based in over 45 countries.
Expanding to recently include international workshops and conferences, The university of Melbourne are proud to host these events on campus in Parkville in 2018.
ZEMCH Network was established with the aim to enhance industry-academia R&D collaborations on the delivery of zero energy mass custom homes in developed and developing countries. Therefore, anyone who is related to construction business and research is welcome to join the network with no annual fees. ZEMCH is an acronym of Zero Energy Mass Custom Home aiming to tackle issues arising in the delivery of socially, economically and environmentally sustainable built environments in developed and developing countries, which accommodate people with different socio-economic backgrounds that relate to ages and abilities.
Topic areas within the conference are diverse, including social, environmental and economic sustainability, mass customisation and personalisation, renewable energy and technology, housing and prefabrication, building performance evaluation and simulation, green economy and policies.
There will be an opportunity to tour the Burnley Campus (13 hectares of stunning heritage-listed gardens) and the Melbourne School of Design Building (6 Green Star rated educational facility).

The ZEMCH workshop is an intensive 5-day program that encompasses a series of lectures on zero energy mass custom home (ZEMCH) design and function analysis techniques, as well as hands-on trainings of energy and environmental design simulation tools for implementation during the workshop.
Designed to be a pre-curser and soft introduction to the ZEMCH 2018 conference, the ZEMCH Sustainable Design Workshop will consist of:
- Knowledge transfer activities;
- Design demonstration site visit and function analysis;
- Design code and housing prototype development;
- Energy and environmental design simulation and mass custom design development; and
- Data collation and presentation.
Workshop places are strictly limited to allow for knowledge sharing and networking, a sample schedule can be viewed below with final schedules available closer to delivery.

The ARC Training Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing is the centrepiece for collaborative, eco-friendly, prefabricated housing research in Australia, striving to deliver breakthrough product and process innovations that will enable the Australian housing industry to compete on a global stage.
