Biography

After completing a certificate in Cartography at the Queensland Institute of Technology (now Queensland University of Technology) and working as a cartographer for seven years, Jude studied conservation at the University of Canberra, graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science in the Conservation of Cultural Materials, specialising in paper and photographic conservation, in 1986.

She has affiliations with several professional organisations and has been a member of AICCM since 1981. She was editor of the AICCM National Newsletter and a member of the Publications Sub-Committee of National Council (Jan 2002 - Jan 2008) and was a member of the AICCM Code of Practice Sub-Committee (Nov 1996 - Oct 2000). Jude was awarded the AICCM Conservator of the Year in 2001. Jude was a member of the Museums Australia Victoria's Museum Accreditation Program Committee (2000-2005) and was an on-site panel member (1998-2006) for the program.

Jude's experience in the conservation of cultural material spans three decades, working as a paper and photographic conservator at a number of Australian institutions including Museum Victoria, the Victorian Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Material, the Australian War Memorial and the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in Launceston. Jude joined the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation staff in 1999 as the senior paper conservator and her role now is as manager of the CCMC Consultancy Programs, including responsibility for delivery of conservation services to the University Cultural Collections.

Jude has extensive experience working with regional collections and delivery of workshops in Tasmania and Victoria. She is actively involved in the teaching/training programs offered through the Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation academic programs and consultancy programs.
