Melbourne School of Design
The ZEMCH 2018 International Conference will be held in the new 6 Star Green Star rated Melbourne School of Design at The University of Melbourne. The building is a state-of-the-art academic facility for the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning and is located in the heart of the main campus.
In collaboration, John Wardle Architects (Melbourne) and NADAAA (Boston) designed the new Melbourne School of Design building. The building functions as a learning laboratory for built environment education and research and the open design of the main spaces assists in creating opportunities for collaborative interdisciplinary engagement. Exposing structural components and materials also promotes insight and the critical exploration of planning, design, construction and sustainability concepts. It is also the first education facility to be awarded the maximum rating of 10 Green Star Innovation credits. The building was officially opened in December 2014 with undergraduate and graduate students occupying the building in 2015.
